Team Prathet results for the IKF World Tournament

Team Prathet has just returned after a lengthy trip from Orlando Florida for the IKF World Tournament.

Head trainer, Acharn Oudthone with fighters, Kayla Oudthone, Stephanie Oudthone, Mickey Mojica, Juarez Heard and Crystal Murphy traveled over one thousand miles to compete in the largerst amatuer kickboxing event in the world, at the IKF World Classic.

An unusal turn of events made this trip some what confusing, maybe because the road trip was long, or the mental state of the new fighters to the tournament made the difference in the results of Team Prathet.

We knew Kayla Oudthone was going to be close of not weighing in at the 130 mark, but we was hoping the trip would help her slim down, but the time she weighed in, she was an unusual 136 lbs. 6 pounds over her weight class. With it being so late and the circumstances that sourrounded that lead up to her weigh in, the IKF would not allow her to lose the 6 pounds required, stating it was unhealthy. With a bit of resentment, we had to agree. But a new situation came up with Johnny Davis of the IKF who was also holding a PKB ( Point Kickboxing ) tournament as well. We first assumed that it was nothing but kick, kick, punch and point, but was assurred it was continuous sparring. After consulting the team we agreed to enter her into the IKF PKB, so that at least Ms. Oudthone could have a fight, and here are the results of this fight.

Round 1 - Ms. Oudthone finally met someone who was as tall as she was if not alittle taller. Her opponent weighed in heavier, but again this was PKB. Since this was new to Ms. Oudthone, she went in cautiously and feeling out the new style. She went into it flawlessly! She fought like a champion, and that is how the fight ended when Ms. Oudthone connected with back kick that lead to a knock

down as time ran out of the first round. Her opponent would not be able to continue and the fight was called. Congrats to Ms. Oudthone who now is the World PKB ladies Champion!

Stephanie Oudthone - The junior Ms. Oudthone would see her first fight action of her career in a tournament, but in the same way the elder Ms. Oudthone would enter the tourney, PKB. Ms. Oudthone who walks around at weight of 70lbs had a chore to try to get down to 60 lbs but could not do so as well, which left her out of the IKF kickboxing tourney, but an open spot for the IKF PKB tourney. In her PKB debut, it seemed as if Ms. Oudthone was distant maybe from trying to lose the weight, the long drive, the upset of not entering the Main Tournament or just wasn't all there.

Round 1 - Ms. Oudthone came in strong against her male competitor, connecting with strong jabs and punches, but her opponent slipped a mid section kick that knocked the breath out of Ms. Oudthone and gave her a standing eight, Oudthone tried to recover by coming back with strong jabs and punches but her opponent AGAIN caught her with a mid level kick that stopped the fight. Ms. Oudthone recieved second place for participating in the IKF PKB World Tournament!

Mickey Mojica vs. Tony Lester of Augusta Georgia. Fight number 28.

Round 1 seen Mojica coming in strong, but as soon as the fight really started to kick in, Mojica's mentality came in to play when he was caught with a low kick that sent him slipping to the canvas. An error on his part that he may have never recovered from.

Round 2 - Lester's corner told him to keep up the pressure on Mojica who kept  getting off balanced with low kicks that swept Mojica off his feet, a BIG plus for judges who look for the most effective kick. Frustrated Mojica could only try to fight back with strong left hooks that connected and stunned his opponent. But quickly recovered and finished the round with strong leg kicks.

Round 3 - Mojica's corner needed a knock out to pull out the win on this one. Mojica knew he had to summon all his strength within the last 2 minutes to win this fight. He scored on hard left hooks continuously, but it was Lester who kept Mojica off balance to win the bout.

Video of Mickey Mojica's fight coming soon!

Jaurez Heard vs. Eli McGlothlin

These 2 traveled all the way from Arkansas to get a chance to compete with each other in the ring. Both schools are well known by all as the best training spots in Arkansas. Danny Dring and Prathet Thai.

Round 1 - Heard took this bout as an International bout since the IKF had to combine rule styles for 4 fighters. Juarez in his Muay Thai stance came in with great techinical skills, blocking kicks and trading landing punches throughout the round. Even though Heard was not hurt from any kicks that Eli thrown, the judges seemed to like the repetitive kicks Eli had landed.

Round 2 - Heard again used to the clench wanted to take the clench and knee, but since this was not a Muay Thai bout he had to use his other weapons to control round 2. Again decisive strikes from Heard kept Eli away, but as soon as Heard came in, Eli stayed in so that Heard would not be able to use his length of his arms and legs to his advantage. Heard had the better round by better technique.

Round 3 - Feeling that both corners knew this was a close one, both fighters gave it their all. Eli still landing leg kicks to the judges pleasure while Heard connected on perfect punches.

Sensing a 4th round, both corners left their gloves on until the referee had said to take them off when there was a decision.

Eli wins in this close one! Great Job by Juarez Heard! Video coming soon!

Crystal Murphy vs. Constance Thomason

Murphy seeded 3 and Thomason seeded 2 whom both have defeated the number one seed Danielle Wilson would now take the fight to meet up with Wilson again for the World Title Belt this time.

Round 1 - Murphy came in cautious of a lady who has more experience and a Full Contact (above the waist) Fighter. Murphy did a great job by cutting off the ring on the mobile Thomason using her constant kicks, but Murphy was landing counter punches to those kicks. They both went back to back with Thomason giving the judges the idea that her punch, kick and retreat was more effective on a Muay Thai fighter.

Round 2 - Murphy kept the pressure up with mid section kicks that landed constantly. Thomason kept her distance from Murphy who got alot of over hand rights in, but was in effective on power when Thomason slipped the punches by hit and run. Murphy may have controlled the round, but with the slipping of punches that Thomason did, it was up to the judges to who had more effective strikes.

Round 3 - This was it, both ladies knew that this was the final round for that title shot. Both landed blows and kicks with Thomason landing more contact with her kicks as Murphy used her punching power moving Thomason to the ropes, both fought to the bell in this one.

The decision was coming......10 minutes later a decision was made. Thomason wins by close margin decision. Video is coming soon.

Great Job by team Prathet at the IKF World Classic! This was a tough tournament! Special thanks to Geoff Trissolinni out of Team Fearless for helping out in the corner!

Fight results are in from Cage Fury in Conway Arkansas!

Team Prathet West took one fighter, Mickey Mojica to compete at Cage Fury in Conway Arkansas and brought back his 3rd win in 4 weeks to bring his fight record to 3 wins, 0 losses, 1 ko and 2 arm bar submits. He will now take off a month from competing to focus on the IKF World Tournament in Orlando Florida in July.

As we waited for the 7th fight of the night, Mojica took some time for himself looking back at all the sweat, running and training that has brought him to the cage.

It was when they called his name that he knew it was time to take the fight to the cage. His opponent Mike Crisco from Team Annihilation in Jacksonville also brought the fight to the cage.

As they met in the center of the cage they touched gloves and wished each other good luck. The fight began with Mojica throwing a jab and Crisco coming back with a punch kick combo and they both got into the clench where Crisco got the underhook and was able to throw Mojica to the mat. As they rolled, Mojica kept Crisco to his corner where his cornermen gave him advise. Crisco then was able to use the cage to roll Mojica to the neutral corner and as soon as Crisco posted up to strike in the guard Mojica was able to take advantage of the open arm and caught Crisco with an arm bar with only 38 seconds into the first round. Great fight for Mojica as he improves his record with no defeats!

Special thanks for his corners, Acharn Oudthone, Reco, and Chris Haycraft who prepared him for this bout and thanks to the promoters of Caged Fury for putting on a well runned event!

Team Prathet results for Memphis June 15th.

Team Prathet took 2 fighters to Memphis for bouts in a International, and Combat Jujitsu bouts and brought home wins!

Mr. Oudthone also got some ring time in an exhibtiion bout with one of Jeff Mullen's fight team.

In a Muay Thai bout between Oudthone and Dan Laubacker, Oudthone displayed what Muay Thai is all about, he kept control of the bout with great knee and countering work. Dan came in  having a wrestling back ground and showed great  skills followed by great punch combo's. All in all it was a great bout show casing the true art of Muay Thai. Great job by both competitors! To view this bout Click Here!

Trey Cook vs. Tanner Shuffield.
Shuffield brought experience to the ring by way of a Full Contact Rules Record of 7-2-1 (05' record) while Cook brought a Muay Thai record of 0-1. Since Cook has trained Muay Thai and Shuffield trained for FCR both sides agreed to a International Rules bout (kicks are allowed to legs) to compete the bout.
This was a non stop bout between both competitors with Cook recieving a split decision from the judges! Great job by both!

Mickey Mojica vs. Blake (will have last name soon). Wow what can I say about this bout but interesting. Round 1 seen Blake coming in agressive catching Mojica in a sweep slam, there they worked for the most part of the round. Round 2 was the most interesting, Blake decided to stand up with Mojica and traded blows with Mojica connecting more efficient hooks that rocked Blake and sent him crashing to the canvas. Mojica's corner told him to let him back up for more stand up action but Blake was not getting up. The ref asked Mojica if he was going to finish him and that was when Mojica gently sat over his opponent and submitted Blake with an armbar.  Interesting call it was but never the less Mojica wins by arm bar. To View the 2nd Round Click Here!

Congrats to Team Prathet for their display of Muay Thai! Next weekend Team Prathet will be in Conway for more fights with Mojica leading the way!

See you in Conway Arkansas!

Team Prathet’s MMA fight results for May 31st

In a night that showcased alot of schools from local gyms, Team Prathet was the only Muay Thai gym that was present to represent "Muay Thai".

Team Prathet brought out only 1 fighter that night and that's all they would need to show what Muay Thai is all about.
Mickey Mojica, who's original opponent was a no show at weigh in's, was soon matched up with a guy from Missouri who weighed in 10 lbs heavier and was a few inches taller than Mojica.

As the night progressed we got to see some great fight's, most of them did not last past the 2nd round. Little did we know Mojica's fight would not either.

Round 1 - As the bell sounded with both fighters in the center of the cage going over fight instructions, you can hear Team Prathet's corner yelling "Muay Thai!" To the unexpecting crowd, they would soon learn what Muay Thai was all about!

The fight starts with an exchange of punches when Mojica catches his opponent with a hard right Muay Thai kick to the ribs that instantly caused a large bruise. His opponent who didnt want any of that soon backed up not wanting to get close to any type of clenching caught a Mojica kick and went for the takedown. There they worked on ground and pound with Mojica taking the guard. Mojica then worked a triangle that he could'nt get the angle on and kept his opponent at bay. The bell sounded as both fighters returned to their corner's for further instructions.

Round 2 - Both fighters came out as Mojica again used his Thai kicks that hit the mark again causing more damage to his opponents ribs. Mojica then was taken down where they continued the barrage of punches from both fighters. The crowd screaming with delight as both fighters were giving their all and Mojica caught his opponent with an up kick to the face separating both fighters from the ground, this proved to be the start of the end for Mojica's opponent.. As Mojica stood back up his opponent came in and was caught by a straight and retreated by turning away where Mojica followed and caught his opponent with a solid left hook that sent him crashing to the canvas. Mojica then jumped at the chance and ground and pounded his opponent where his opponent laid motionless.

Winner by KO, and his first fight! Mojica!

Congrats to Mr.
Mojica who came in as a Muay Thai Warrior and left giving the MMA crowd a show of what Muay Thai is all about!

MUAY THAI !!!!!!!!!!!!!

"May 17th Fight results "Fighting in the Devil's Den"
Ladies  bout :Jessamyn Duke Team AFS vs. Lindsay Scheer. Team Haycraft.
Independent evaluation on bout from  7 states not surrounding the bout state  of  AR.

Jessamyn Duke remains winner, by close decision on the last round in all the verdicts.
Rd 1 Jessamyn ,
Rd 2 Lindsay Scheer,
Rd 3 Jessamyn,  but still close.
Some reasons given were:  Lindsay had a tendency to hang on too much in clinches and was overpowered by Jessamyn. Though her work to gain control of the clinch was admirable it was ineffective against Jessamyn,  who overpowered her on most occasions.
According to the review from several states :
Jessamyn Duke used her reach (hand and foot) more effectively, and Lindsay was quite effective in her low kicks. But fight still came down to final last round...
Conclusion was that neither girl has anything that they should be ashamed of. A possible  challenge for the Women's Inter- State Championship Title in the future from both these girls. Would be nice  to see them fight against  other opponents soon to see how they fare and then come back to compete again for a second time.
We hope this  independent review has assisted  in the closure of the dispute. Thank you.

The review  on Jon Cowell and Scott Sawadee still under progress....

March 29th fight updates

This proved to be an interesting night for Team Prathet.

Ethan Keefer vs. Decoda King rematch. Both competitors came in with the notion of not wanting to take another draw, but it was Decoda King’s night after he a landed middle kick in the chest of Keefer that caused a standing eight. Keefer was able to recover but it was alittle to late when the decision came in and King got the win.

Lanna Peeples-Oudthone vs. Madison Evans. This match was scratched, but Lanna Peeples-Oudthone still was able to get ring time with fellow classmate Ethan Keefer. They both recieved medals to a delightful crowd of spectators for their performance.

Michael Kiani vs. Ricky Holderbee. These two first time fighters came in with something to proved, that they belonged to be in the ring! Exciting fight with Kiani working the clench and giving some technical knee work. Holderbee did well keeping Kiani away with his boxing skills. Kiani took the first round, and Holderbee took the second. It was at the end of the third round when all hell broke loose. Both fighters were extremely tired at this moment, when at the closing seconds Holderbee caught Kiani in the corner and landed a straight right that connected to the bridge of Kiani’s nose, trickles of blood soon came after. Still fighting though Kiani was soon not able to see or breathe. With spills of blood just pouring out of his nose, his corner stopped the fight. Medical then had to work to stop the bleeding. After a brief stoppage, Kiani rose to his feet and congradulated his opponent with his win. Holderbee wins by TKO.

Andre Singletary vs. Jesse Comer. This bout almost did not happen. Andre coming in 3 lbs heavy, and Comer coming in 5 lbs light. Comers trainers did not want to take this fight unless Singletary lost 3 lbs. After a lenghty meeting by Team Prathet’s trainers, Singletary decided  to try to lose the 3 lbs, IN TWO HOURS.
Singletary could have not taken the fight either, because Comer was not in the weight class specified and could of taken the win, instead Singletary decided he was here for a reason. Singletary dropped his weight and the fight was set.
Round 1 - Singletary proved that he was the better fighter, coming off of anger he had when he had to drop weight, he took it to Comer, showing great clench work and technical skills, but was dehyderated from losing his weight and started to cramp up.
Round 2 - With the knowledge of Singletary’s cramping up, they decide to take it easy the second round by working only when he had to. Comer came back with better combinations to finish the round and take the round.
Round 3 - Singletary then came in with flurries of combination knee’s and clench work, but Comer would have none of that, he would back up and keep away from the clench, so Singletary controlled the center of the ring saving his energy and keeping the fight in the center instead of chasing Comer.

Judges Score Cards for this:

28-29 Judge 1
28-29 Judge 2
29-28 Judge 3

Winner by decision - Comer.

Team Prathet then got upset with the decision and spoke with Head Judge and found out that Judge 2 went against Singletary’s decision. Singletary should of won this fight. Judge 2 later stated she made a mistake and it should of went to Singletary, but it was too late. The decision was made.

Feburary 17th - 2008

Busy weekend for Team Prathet! We can't be more happy for both teams who had to split up and fight in two different cities.

Team Red - Kuhn Jerry Keefer - Russellville Arkansas - John Hubbard promoter.

Stephanie Oudthone 2-1-0 vs. Morgan Climence 1-0.
Stephanie's first loss in a Full Contact Rules (kicks and punches above the waist only) against a highly energized Morgan Climence. Give it to Ms. Oudthone for changing rules styles to Give Climence her first recorded victory in these two 9 year old brackets.

Ethan Keefer 2-1-0 vs. Isiah Thompson 0-1-0.
Ethan came into this fight prepared! He was all over Thompson when the first bell sounded and controlled all three 2 minute rounds. (normal rounds for juniors are 1 and a half minutes). Ethan improves his record and ring experience.

Kristopher Setvin 0-1-0 vs, Zandy Hathaway 3-0-0.
Experience came into play when Hathaway kept close to stay away from Setvin's feet. Hathaway inproves his record. Setvin improves his skills.

Kyle Christian 0-1-0 vs. ( did not have name at press time )
This seemed to be a overmatch. Christian's opponent looked larger than Christian, but it was not experience that made Christian lose this fight, but his kicks. Made 1 day before fight time, Christian accepted a fight with a much larger and more experienced fighter. Christian made all 3 rounds and shown why he is not afraid of anyone.

Jake VanNostrand 1-2-1 vs. ( did not have name at press time )
VanNostrand thinking he was going to get a boxing match, got to fight a FCR bout. Something he was unfamiliar about but took care of business anyway. Taking his opponent out when he would not fight back due to VanNostrand's quickness and the Ref stepped in to stop the fight! TKO VanNostrand.

Team Black - Acharn Oudthone - Henryette Oklahoma - USMTA Event -John Wolf promoter.

Jaurez Heard 1-2-0 vs. Colton Crib 0-2-0.
The first match of the night pit 2 competitors looking for their first win. In round 1 Heard was able to stagger Crib and put him down from a knee strike and overhand right that caused a standing 8 for Crib. Rounds 2 and 3 Heard controlled the match by taking care of the center of the ring and countering everything Crib did and when Heard seen an opening he would take those shots and win the score cards taking his first win in the squared circle.

Andre Singletary 3-1-3 vs. Carl Wright 2-2-0.
Opting not to use head gear, Singletary and Wright shown these respects in the center of the ring and taking it toe to toe. Wright came in with a rabbit punch that sent Singletary to the corner ropes which stunned him, but Singletary's experience came to play when he was able to control the round by clenching and using his knee's which sent Wright to the ground at the end of the round. Wright faced a standing eight when the round was over but the strong knee's and punches proved to much for Wright who also wore no head gear, called the fight and could not answer round 2. Winner Singletary TKO.

Austin Foster 2-0-2 vs. Clareance Gonzales ( fighter had to back out, we do not have his new fighters names yet )
With a change in a back up fighter Foster would not be deprived of a fight. Sealing the ring was longer than what this fight turned out to be. Foster came in with rights and lefts to start the round and stunned his opponent who had to retreat around the ring, the Ref stepped in and gave Austin's new opponent a standing eight count. When the fighters resumed Foster smelled blood and came at his opponent with terrorizing hooks, and knees, Foster then caught his opponent retreating and was able to close the distance with an overhand right that sent his opponent to the canvas. KO Foster!

USMTA TRI-STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE BELT MATCH

Kimonte Thomas 2-2-1 vs. Cesey Philips 3-2-0.
In what was thought to be a regular fight came out to be a USMTA Tri-State Title bout. 5 rounds of pure excitement.
In round 1 Thomas came out strong connecting with rights and lefts followed by left leg high kicks stunning Philips, but Philips was able to with stand the barrage and come back with his own combinations. The crowd errupting with the excitement of these two fighters fighting for the vacant title.
Thomas came back with flurries and kicks almost ending the fight when his dourang came lose and had asked to tighten it. His corner erupted and told him not to stop! It gave breathing room for Philips then the round ended.
Rounds 2 thru 4 was much of the same with Thomas making more clean shots which gave him a slight advantage on the score cards.
In the 5th and final round, both had shown that they wanted that belt. They both had taken their share of punches, kicks and knee's. It was Thomas who controlled most of the fight using the center of the ring to use his defense. It was enough to win the USMTA Title!

We now have a new Champion to Team Prathet! Congrats go out to Mr. Thomas and his team! Great work by assistant Kuhn Keefer for taking Team Red and bringing home wins! Team Prathet Black swepted all their fights giving Team Prathet 6 wins out of 9, Great Job trainers and coaches!

November 4th. Exciting night with some losses followed with a huge win!

First fight of the night:

1. Exhibition between 2 brothers, JR Keefer vs Ethan Keefer. Pretty funny to watch lil Ethan beating up Big brother! Ethan's first time to fight in a big ring with alot of people watching but he did well! Both recieved medals for participating.

2. Kristopher Setvin vs.Clint ( last name was no clear at the time ) in a MTR rules match. First timer Setvin trained hard for this one even though it was an exhibition bout and came out well, he recieved his first fight "bloody nose" and thought it was cool! He will continue to train hard for his next real fight.

3. Justin Myers vs. Bobby Merryman - MMA bout - In a bout that was made at the last min, determined newcomer Merryman came out swinging for the fences and caught Myers off guard and was not able to recoup from the wildness from Merryman, Ref stepped in and stopped the fight. Winner Merryman.

4. Kimonte Thomas vs. Alvin Williams - San Shou rules bout - This was the fight of the night for Team Prathet. Thomas did his homework on current San shou Champion Williams stopping every attack that he made. With great combinations and great sprawl, Thomas was never taken down and was able to used great clench and knee work inside, but it was a overhand right that set the pace and put Wiliams on the ropes for a standing 8 in the second round, after the standing 8 Williams called it quits as the ref stepped in to end the bout. Winner Thomas wins by TKO! Williams will put up his Championship belt in Jan for a rematch.

5. Jaurez Heard vs. Rock Abbaddi - MTR bout - Great bout untill Abbaddi land several head kicks that blinded Heard and the fight was stopped due to Heard not being able to see. Abbaddi winner TKO.
